Brought up in genteel Edwardian Cheltenham in a house near Pittville Pump rooms, Rowena Cade was educated at the prestigious Cheltenham Ladies College. In her teens as World War 1 broke out, she chose to break in Canadian horses in nearby Prestbury Park for the war effort. So why then did she leave her genteel life in Cheltenham behind to buy a Cornish headland for £100?
